The Royal Oak Ref: 4100ST, introduced in 1977, was the brand's first midsize Royal Oak, expanding the iconic line beyond the original Jumbo Ref 5402 released in 1972. Designed in response to the demand for a slightly smaller and more wearable version of Gérald Genta's groundbreaking luxury sports watch, the 4100ST featured a 35mm stainless steel case while retaining the hallmark design elements that defined the collection— the octagonal bezel with exposed screws, integrated bracelet, and the petite tapisserie textured dial. This model continued the revolutionary concept of blending fine watchmaking with a sporty steel case, a bold move for the era, and helped solidify the Royal Oak's position as a design icon. The 4100ST also marked the introduction of a central seconds hand, a departure from the original Jumbo's cleaner, more minimalist layout. Its historical significance lies in broadening the Royal Oak's appeal while preserving the avant-garde spirit of the original, making it a cornerstone in Audemars Piguet's legacy. Watch is in good vintage condition, case is sharp, nice creamy patina present. Comes with period correct unsigned crown.
